Make Brushing Fun For Kids

Little girl brushing teeth with mom behind herIt can be difficult to get your children to do anything that isn’t considered ‘fun.’ Unfortunately, many of the necessary things we need to do aren’t exactly fun, but they need to be done anyway. Caring for your oral health is one of these necessary things. Luckily, there are a few ways you can make brushing a little more fun for your kids!

Make Oral Hygiene Less Of a Chore

  1. Make it a contest – Kids love anything that can be turned into a game. Get your toothbrush and your child’s toothbrush ready and then have a contest to see who can get their teeth the cleanest! Let your child win and watch their motivation to keep their teeth clean skyrocket!
  2. Find a good app – There are several smartphone apps you can download to help motivate your child to brush for the recommended two minutes. Find an app with your child’s favorite cartoon character, Disney princess, or super hero so they can brush along with their idol!
  3. Use the Tooth Fairy – The Tooth Fairy is a beloved tradition, but she can also be used to help motivate your kids. Make sure to let your kids know that the Tooth Fairy will only reward children for the clean teeth that fall out. She doesn’t want teeth full of dental cavities!

If you’ve found a way to help your kids enjoy taking care of their teeth, please let us know in the comments! We’d love to be able to pass on any tried and true tricks.
